I just got home from The Garden, and say what yo will about these guys, they are a true Rock & Roll band, complete with double neck guitars and all the guitar god posturing you could ask for. But when you get down to it, they put on an unbelievable show, with top notch lights and an amazing sound system. My seats were off the back left corner of the stage (see below) and it was loud and clear as a bell.
Highlights were plentiful, they brought out a trio of back up singers on a few tunes, and really brought the house down when they welcomed CJ Ramone for a smoking “I Believe In Miracles”, and Ace Frehley of KISS fame for “Black Diamond” which Eddie Vedder watched from the wings like the rest of us. Seemingly just as excited as the 20,000 paying fans that were pumping their fists and singing along. As a side, the first concert that I saw at The Garden was KISS in 1978 or ‘79.
Anywhere, anytime, I will see these guys. They pour their hearts into it every night and seem to truly appreciate what the crowd gives back to them.
